Who’s eligible
If your non-driver ID is lost, stolen, or damaged/destroyed, you can get a duplicate non-driver ID in person.
You cannot request a duplicate non-driver ID online if your name has changed since you got your last ID. Learn how to change your name on your non-driver ID.
If you cannot request your duplicate non-driver ID online, please replace it in person instead.
How to replace your CT non-driver ID
Step 1: Gather what you’ll need
- Your first and last name exactly as it appears on your current non-driver ID
- Your date of birth
- Your street address
- Your non-driver ID number
- Your Social Security Number
- A credit or debit card
Step 2: Request a non-driver ID online
Step 3: Get your non-driver ID in the mail
Your ID will arrive through the mail within 20 business days. You can keep your expiring ID if there are no changes other than address. For more on this, please see Central Issuance.

How to replace your non-driver ID in person
Step 1: Print and complete the required form
Complete an application for in-person request for Duplicate of Current Driver's License or Permit (Form 1-B).
Step 2: Make an appointment
When requesting a duplicate non-driver ID, please make an appointment at a DMV office or express office location, such as AAA locations or Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union locations (Milford | North Haven | Norwalk).
NOTE: DMV express offices, such as AAA locations and Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union, can't replace commercial driver’s licenses (CDLs), commercial learner’s permits, licenses with passenger endorsements (PPE), or drive-only licenses. These locations may also charge a convenience fee up to $8 per DMV transaction.
Step 3: Get your non-driver ID in the mail
You will get a temporary non-driver ID at your appointment. Your permanent ID card will arrive through the mail.
Your duplicate ID will only be mailed to the mailing address on file with the DMV within 20 business days. If you have mail forwarding, you won’t receive your new ID.

How to replace your non-driver ID by mail or email
To request a duplicate non-driver ID by mail:
- Complete a request for a Connecticut driver’s license/identification card by mail (Form B-350).
- Mail form and payment (made payable to DMV) to:

Your duplicate credential will be mailed directly to the address on file and you will receive it within 20 days.
To request a duplicate non-driver ID by email:
- Complete a request for a Connecticut driver’s license/identification card by mail (Form B-350).
- Email completed form(s) to DMV.CIU@ct.gov.
- To pay for your request, a link will be emailed to you within two business days.
If there are any issues with your request, we will notify you via email.
Your duplicate credential will be mailed directly to the address on file and you will receive it within 20 days.
