Special Education Data Collections Help Site

This site is dedicated to helping you understand all the data elements and important processes within each of the data collections associated with special education data. Be sure to review our User Guides and FAQ documents for important information specific to each collection. Please contact us with any questions that are not covered in the provided materials.

Our goal in the Bureau of Data Collection, Research and Evaluation (BDCRE) is to provide both federal and state stakeholders and the public with sound data and statistics to make informed decisions. Additionally, the state uses all data collection systems to ensure the state and its public school districts are complying with the laws and regulations which protect the rights of students with disabilities in Connecticut.

The data collection systems outlined on this site are designed to collect data regarding Connecticut’s students with disabilities; from the evaluation process to the implementation of an Individualized Education Program (IEP), as mandated by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
