Highway Safety Programs |
The goal of the Connecticut Highway Safety Program is to prevent roadway fatalities and injuries as a result of crashes related to driver behavior. Under the Highway Safety Act of 1966 (U.S. 23 USC- Chapter 4) the Governor is required to implement a highway safety program through a designated State agency suitably equipped and organized to carry out the program. An appointed Governor's Highway Safety Representative oversees the program and supporting Section 402 highway safety grant funds are made available to the States to carry out their annual Highway Safety Plans. The Connecticut Highway Safety program is an extension of this Federal requirement. |
