What To Expect

Working closely with the Connecticut Office of the Arts' staff, you will gain hands-on experience assisting with the communications, research, outreach, planning and marketing for the Connecticut Office of the Arts' programs.  An intern typically works 8-15 hours per week.

Interns report to the Director of Arts, Historic Preservation and State Museums or a designated COA staff member.

Examples of responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of PowerPoint, keynote presentations and marketing materials
  • Interact with members of the arts and culture community, staff and public officials
  • Conduct research on arts and culture activities in cities and towns across the state
  • Assist with the Connecticut Arts Council meetings
  • Utilize computer skills - graphic design skills are a plus
  • Assist with administrative and clerical support as needed
  • Assist with special projects and events
  • Assist within different areas of the Office of the Arts' programs, including but not limited to Art in Public Spaces, Arts Education, Teaching Artist Registry, special events, community outreach, professional development opportunities for artists and arts administrators,  marketing and promotions
