Overview
Recognizing the need to provide hands-on, practical work experience for students and emerging professionals, the Connecticut Office of the Arts established an unpaid internship program within its own office.
This program may be used by qualified students to obtain academic credit from their institution. It is also open to professional-track individuals not currently enrolled in an academic institution.
This internship is an excellent opportunity to gain mentorship from experienced professionals. The intern will be part of a progressive State that recognizes the important role the arts and culture play in building rich and vibrant communities.
Eligibility
Students in the following majors may apply. We also invite professional track applicants looking to gain more experience in these areas.
- Arts Administration
- Fine Arts
- Communications
- Business
- Political Science
Since the academic requirements of participating institutions of higher education may vary, each intern should arrange individually with his or her college or university for specific academic requirements and credits to be awarded for participation in the program.
Selection Process
Selection will be made by Connecticut Office of The Arts Staff. Appointments will be made in accordance to the academic term being considered. COA Interns may not independently perform the regular work performed by employees; however, they may shadow employees to gain experience and/or assist staff with assignments, conduct research, collect data, etc., as part of their educational experience as approved by their learning institution.
A workable and mutually beneficial relationship between the students, their instructors and our office is a major goal of the internship program. Every effort will be made to effect a match that is satisfactory to both parties. All internships are unpaid.
