Advanced Manufacturing - with a concentration in Environmental Studies:The technology-based themes integrate hands-on learning with access to advanced machinery, environmental science and technology to give students the skillsets needed to advance in the workforce or post-secondary education.
Arts (Visual and Performing): We have several magnets that are specifically geared to students interested in art, music, dance, digital arts, creative writing, theater design and other forms of performance art. The themed-approach integrates a rigorous core curriculum with instruction focused on the arts.
Character Education: A "breakthrough" philosophy is the basis for the character education theme, focusing on awareness in five areas: (1) changing breakdowns to breakthroughs through problem solving skills; (2) responsibility; (3) integrity; (4) contributing to others; and (5) knowledge. An environment of "coaching" supports student's work, in which all students are "coaches" and the staff members are "head coaches" for mutual support in academic, physical, artistic and interpersonal endeavors within a rigorous core curriculum.
Civic Leadership: The Civic Leadership theme focuses on building individual student commitment and leadership to promote community achievement and justice. Academics, field experiences, and leadership development prepares students to demonstrate tenacity, accomplishment, courage, community wellness, and a commitment to justice.
College Prep– with a concentration in Classic Liberal Arts: The College prep/Classic liberal arts theme exposes students to a broad and diverse curriculum that prepares students for college and life by teaching them to think, problem solve, and communicate. Students are actively engaged in learning through the Paideia driven, Socratic Method of teaching and learning, and will be prepared for acceptance at, as well as success at, the finest liberal arts colleges.
College Prep– with a concentration in Middle College High School: The Middle College High School theme gives students an early start on earning college credits by providing opportunity to take both high school and college-level classes for credit. The dual high school/college enrollment prepares students for college by immersing them in a college environment and allowing them to fully understand the structure and demands of college-level courses prior to becoming a college student.

Early Reading: The school is a model Pre-K through 4th grade Learning Lab School which integrates early literacy instruction throughout the core curriculum. The unique focus on literacy achievement leads to strong literacy skills and an appreciation for all genres of literature.

The theme integrates science focused on land, water, and air throughout the core curriculum. As an Environmental Science magnet school, the goal is to educate students to become responsible citizens who take an active part in protecting and caring for our global environment.
International Baccalaureate (IB): The IB theme is geared toward the 21st century global environment. IB uses the international baccalaureate learner profile to challenge students through rigorous, global-minded academics and prepare them to participate in the 21st century world with intercultural understanding and respect.
Global and World Travel: The theme is geared toward the 21st century global environment, challenging students to become responsible, civic-minded, global citizens through rigorous, global-minded academics and world travel. MicroSociety: Students in a MicroSociety experience a wide variety of learning environments by creating miniature societies within the school to prepare students to be engaged and active citizens. The six major components of the MicroSociety are: Technology, Economy, Academy, Citizenship and Government, Humanities and the Arts, and Heart. Through active student government and academic engagement, students participate in decision-making for their school society and connect learning to the real world.
Montessori: The Montessori theme offers students a nurturing and supportive learning environment that provides rigorous academic challenges while focusing on developing students’ social, emotional, academic, and physical needs. The curriculum is delivered through a hands-on approach to learning and puts students at the center of their skill development. The Montessori principles encourage respect, independence, curiosity, and diversity. Multiple Intelligences: The Multiple Intelligence concept was developed by Dr. Howard Gardner from Harvard University. The theme focuses on eight intelligence areas - linguistic, logical-mathematical, visual-spatial, musical, interpersonal, intrapersonal, bodily/kinesthetic, and naturalist - in delivering the core curriculum to build on students' strengths and how they learn best.
Museum Studies: This theme transcends the traditional classroom and creates a unique learning environment for students through partnerships with museums as an educational resource and site for exiting and stimulating excursions. Students learn to think for themselves and ask questions through a strong inquiry-based and exploratory learning environment.
Reggio Emilia: The Reggio theme supports an individualized learning environment inspired by the Italian Reggio Emilia approach. The curriculum is designed to respect a child’s point of view, and students are empowered to direct their learning. With the teacher acting as a guide, project-based learning opportunities inspire high levels of creativity, critical thinking, and collaborative problem solving.
Social Justice – with a concentration in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics): Social justice and STEM are integrated into the core curriculum. Students learn about global issues, develop an ability to identify social needs and inequities, and are empowered to enact change in their school, community and the world. STEM adds to the curriculum through an enhanced focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Sports and Medical: The Sport and Medical Sciences theme integrates sport and medical sciences into the college prep, core curriculum. Students receive a rigorous foundation in language arts, mathematics, and science with a focus on sport and medical science through hands-on, experiential learning.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics): The STEM theme stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. Students interested in science, math and technology will thrive in this setting! STEM prepares students for college and careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and fosters inquiring minds, logical reasoning, and great collaboration.
STREAM: This theme is closely related to STEM but adds Art and Reading to the mix. STREAM focuses on inquiry-based learning and inspires students to become lifelong learners from an early age. STREAM teaches students to interact with the world through both artistic and scientific processes. Technology: The Technology/College Preparatory theme integrates a 21st Century technology-focus into the core curriculum to empower students to become critical thinkers and active participants in our global, technology-driven society. The theme uses project-based learning to develop research, technological, inquiry, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
