Interoperable and Emergency Communications
The Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security collaborates with stakeholders to develop the guidance and vision for maintaining communications in the event of a man-made or natural disaster in Connecticut. Disasters and emergency incidents impacting the State of Connecticut may severely affect telecommunications networks and transmission facilities across the state. As a result, collaboration between stakeholders at the state, tribal and local levels is key before during and after a disaster situation. Among other communications functions, under CGS-28-1a, DEMHS is also responsible for coordinating homeland security communications and communications systems, as well as distributing and coordinating the distribution of information and security warnings.
