GOV. MALLOY & LT. GOV. WYMAN ON THE PASSING OF JAMES BRADY
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman today released the following joint statement regarding the passing of James Brady, who served as press secretary to President Ronald Reagan, was shot during the assassination attempt on the President, and subsequently championed common sense laws to reduce gun violence. In 1996, President Bill Clinton awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the country's highest civilian honor.
"Jim Brady was a tireless public servant and we owe him a debt of gratitude for his efforts to reduce the scourge of gun violence in America. There was a time when Washington worked in a meaningful way to enact common sense gun violence prevention laws. That was due in no small measure to the efforts of James Brady and his wife, Sarah. To his family, friends, and colleagues, we extend our condolences
