LT. GOV. WYMAN CHAIRS 2014 NATIONAL LIEUTENANT GOVERNORS ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING

(HARTFORD, CT) - Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman, the incoming chair of the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA), will also be the acting chair of the 2014 NLGA Annual Meeting in Girdwood, Alaska. She commenced duties today when current NLGA chair, Oklahoma Lt. Governor Todd Lamb, was unable to attend the three day conference.

"I am honored to chair the 2014 meeting and work with my colleagues to serve the public, grow our economy, support our military men and women, and affect positive change for our states," said Lt. Governor Wyman. "The NLGA is a tremendous resource for lieutenant governors. Thanks to the hard work of the staff, this organization strengthens the work of lieutenant governors and connects our common priorities in a way no other organization does."

As the acting chair, Lt. Governor Wyman will preside over scheduled panels including bioscience employment, healthcare, and the nation's culture and tourism economy. She will meet with national military leaders, chair the 16-person Executive Committee, and direct policy discussions and the NLGA general business agenda.

"Lt. Governor Wyman was nominated to this position by a bi-partisan group of her peers-we appreciate her stepping in early as acting chair, and look forward to appointing her chair on Friday," said NLGA Director Julia Hurst. "The NLGA unites lieutenant governors from both sides of the aisle on common priorities. This is an important meeting-an opportunity to provide research and best practices to the officeholders first in line of succession to governor in all 50 states and the U.S. territories."

Lt. Governor Wyman previously chaired the NLGA Policy Resolutions Committee. She will be appointed chair of the NLGA on Friday.

NLGA is a professional association enabling policy discussion on a broad range of topics, an exchange of best practices, and an opportunity for lieutenant governors to develop leadership priorities for their states.
