GOV. MALLOY & LT. GOV. WYMAN ON THE PASSING OF JACK BANNAN
(HARTFORD, CT) - Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman today released the following statements on the passing of John H. "Jack" Bannan, Sr. of Simsbury, who served as the president of the Connecticut State Federation of Teachers (now AFT Connecticut) and also was a sixth grade teacher and World War II veteran.
"Jack Bannan was an exemplary public servant who put the improvement of his community first," Governor Malloy said. "Whether it was serving Connecticut's public school students or his time in the U.S. Armed Forces, Jack dedicated himself to making sure that the next generation had it better than the one that came before. His story and ones like it are what have made our state and indeed our entire nation the great places they are today. My deepest condolences go out to his friends and family."
Lt. Governor Wyman said, "Through multiple roles, Jack Bannan dedicated his life to making this country and this state a better place for future generations. He had a passion for his community, and an energy that allowed him to dedicate an enormous amount of time to making it a great place for people to live, work and raise a family. We join his family, friends, fellow veterans, former students, and AFT Connecticut brothers and sisters in mourning his loss."
