LT. GOVERNOR WYMAN IN WASHINGTON TO DISCUSS

ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES, EMERGENCY RESPONSE,

IMPACT OF SEQUESTRATION ON CONNECTICUT

Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman is joining more than 20 of her peers this week at the National Lieutenant Governors Association (NLGA) Federal-State Relations meeting in Washington, D.C., where they will discuss issues including economic opportunities for states, emergency preparation and response, and the challenges presented by federal sequestration.

"This meeting is a great opportunity to open economic doors for Connecticut and to work with federal leaders on issues like disaster response and sequestration that impact state government and our residents," Wyman said.

Wyman will explore ways to increase employment among military veterans and the disabled, and to widen opportunities in the life sciences fields. She also will confer with officials from the Army Corps of Engineers, the Dept. of Defense and the Federal Emergency Management Association on ways that states and the federal government can work together on emergency preparation and response.

Also included on her schedule are meetings with U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, the Ambassador of Mexico to the U.S., and with officials from the Embassies of Germany and Israel.

The meeting runs from March 20 - 22.
