About Us

The Claims and Litigation Unit within the Office of Construction evaluates contractor claims, contract disputes, and advises the Construction Districts related to the Contract interpretation and dispute resolution.

The Claims Unit also is the primary liaison to the Connecticut Attorney General's Office related to contract dispute, claim resolution, and other matters.

Contractor Claims filed against the Department of Transportation are allowed only by contract and Connecticut General Statutes Section 4-61.

The Unit represents the Department in mediation, arbitration and Superior Court in defense of Contractor claims.
