Scheduled Short-Term “Rolling” Closure of Route 7 in New Milford for Oversize/Overweight Permitted Vehicle Move

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that Route 7 in New Milford is scheduled to have a short-term “rolling” closure beginning at approximately 8:30 PM on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, and  ending at 5:00 AM on Wednesday, January 16, 2019.  The “rolling’ closure is necessary to facilitate the escort and permitted movement of an oversize/overweight vehicle carrying a transformer weighing 476,700 pounds on a specialized 12-axle trailer.

The transportation of the transformer includes the utilization of jumper bridges at several smaller bridge crossings within the limits of the route thereby requiring the "rolling" closure of  Route 7 until the load passes and the jumpers can be removed.

The move is being escorted and coordinated by the Connecticut State Police.

Motorists can expect a “rolling” closure of  Route 7 between Pickett District Road and Route 55.  Additionally, Route 55 (in New Milford and Sherman) may be closed for a short duration on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, as part of the scheduled transformer move.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.
