Bus and Train Service to Hartford and New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parades
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing enhanced customer service to assist passengers on the CTrail Hartford Line and CTfastrak attending the St. Patrick’s Day parades in Hartford and New Haven on March 9, and 10, 2019.
Parade-goers can use the CTrail Hartford Line to quickly and easily travel to and from the parades. Hartford Line service ambassadors will be on hand at Union Station Hartford and State Street - New Haven stations to answer questions about the rail service and assist passengers with the ticket vending machines. The parade routes in Hartford and New Haven are just a short walk from the stations in Hartford and New Haven, and parking is always free on weekends and holidays at the Berlin, Meriden and Wallingford stations. For schedules and fares visit www.hartfordline.com.
CTfastrak will run additional buses on March 9 and have ambassadors at stations to assist passengers with the ticket vending machines and to answer questions on schedules and the bus rapid transit service. Parking will also be free at all CTfastrak stations with parking lots. The parade route will affect normal bus routing in downtown Hartford, but CTfastrak and CTtransit buses will stop within a block of the parade route on Church Street. During the parades, there will be detours and temporary bus stop relocations in both Hartford and New Haven. Detailed information about these detours and temporary stop relocations are on www.cttransit.com under “Alerts”.
The Greater Hartford St. Patrick’s Day Parade begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 9. The parade starts at Capitol Avenue and ends by the Memorial Arch. The Greater New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parade begins at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 10. The parade starts at Chapel Street and ends at Orange Street.
