Connecticut Department of Transportation Seeks Comments on the State's Draft Long-Range Transportation Plan
There is still time to submit comments on the Draft 2009 Long-Range Transportation Plan for the State of Connecticut (2009 LRP). The LRP is a policy document that outlines the State of Connecticut‘s transportation policies and strategies for the period of 2009 through 2035. This Plan, which includes a strategic five-point action plan for prioritizing the State’s investments in the transportation system, will serve as a framework for developing future, more project-specific transportation planning documents such as the Department’s Master Transportation Plan and the State Transportation Improvement Program. A copy of this draft document, as well as a streaming media presentation that provides information on the contents of the document, is available on the Department’s web site at https://www.ct.gov/dot/LRP
"Since the LRP is typically updated every three to five years, it is important that people read this draft plan and let us know if they think we’ve addressed their needs and concerns, Commissioner Joseph F. Marie said. “A significant number of comments were received during the seven Listening Sessions that the Department held in the fall of 2007 prior to developing this Plan. We seriously considered this input when developing the Draft 2009 LRP, and we will seriously consider input received on this draft plan.” The public review and comment period on this draft document began on March 17, 2009, and four public information meetings were held in late March and early April 2009 to present an overview of this draft plan and to provide an opportunity for the public to comment on the Plan. Comments may continue to be submitted via e-mail and mail.
Written comments on the Draft 2009 LRP will be accepted through April 30, 2009, and all comments received prior to May 1, 2009 will be considered when preparing the final LRP. Comments may be submitted electronically to roxane.fromson@ct.gov. Comments may also be mailed to the attention of Ms. Roxane Fromson, Transportation Supervising Planner, Bureau of Policy and Planning, at the Connecticut Department of Transportation, P.O. Box 317546, Newington, Connecticut 06131-7546. It is anticipated that the Final 2009 LRP will be published in June 2009. Upon publication, the public will be notified and the final plan will be posted on the Department's web site.
