Rehabilitation of Bridge 00901 Carrying U.S. Route 202 and Route 67 over the Housatonic River in New Milford

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of construction activity for the rehabilitation of Bridge 00901 which carries U.S. Route 202 and  Route 67 over the Housatonic River in New Milford.

 The project includes removal of the existing bituminous concrete wearing surface, patching of precast lightweight concrete bridge deck and sidewalk deck components, installation of a spray-applied waterproofing membrane and new bituminous concrete overlay, replacement of deck expansion joints, cleaning of scuppers, installation of new three-beam bridge rail system, repairs to steel stringers, floorbeams and truss superstructure, spot painting of structural steel, concrete repairs at abutments and wingwalls, cleaning and painting truss bearings and installation of keeper assembly, replacement of illumination on the bridge with LED bulbs, milling and paving approach roadway pavement surfaces and replacement of approach guiderail system.

DOT Project No. 0095-0254 was awarded to Rotha Contracting Co., Inc. of Avon, CT at a cost of $2,619,654.05 on October 18, 2019, and is scheduled to be completed on November 30th, 2020.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

U.S. Route 202 / Route 67 (Bridge Street):  The contractor will be allowed to close and detour traffic between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. for no more than eight weeks.  A press release will be issued prior to the closure and detour.  During allowable periods, alternating one-way traffic operations will be in place not to exceed 300 feet of length on a travel path not less than 11 feet. During allowable periods the contractor will be permitted to close the U.S. Route 7 southbound left turn lane and the U.S. Route 7 and 202 northbound right turn lane at the signalized intersection.
