Scheduled Lane Closures on Route 34 (East and West) over the Wepawaug River in Orange

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that Route 34 eastbound and westbound in the vicinity of the Wepawaug River in Orange will be reduced to one lane in each direction between the hours of 9 PM, Friday October 11, 2019, and 5 AM, Monday October 14, 2019.  An additional identical closure will occur again between the hours of 9 PM, Friday, October 18, 2019,  and 5 AM, Monday,  October 21, 2019.

The closures are necessary to facilitate ongoing construction activity for project 0106-0127, which involves rehabilitation and safety improvements to Bridge 00948, carrying Route 34 over Wepawaug River in Orange.

Starting at 9 PM, Friday on both weekends, motorists can expect lane closures on Route 34 between Route 15 and Route 152 in Orange. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.

DOT Project No. 0106-0127 was awarded to PJF Construction Corporation on June 13, 2019, at a cost of $1,640,571.55. Construction is scheduled to be completed on or before January 3, 2020. 

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are urged to obey the posted speed limit and to utilize caution through this and all other construction work zones.
