Scheduled Closure and Detour of River Road Between Rooster Tail Hollow Road and 119 River Road in New Milford

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the scheduled closure and detour of River Road between Rooster Tail Hollow Road and 119 River Road in New Milford to facilitate construction activities for the rehabilitation of Bridge 09200R on the Housatonic Railroad.  The closure will begin Friday, August 2, at 7 AM and last until August 12, 2019 at 5 AM.

The contractor will detour traffic around the bridge utilizing Rooster Tail Hollow Road, Long Mountain Road, Aspetuck Ridge Road, Boardman Road and River Road. River Road may be open overnight depending on construction activities however it is strongly suggested that motorists avoid the area.

DOT Project No. 0170-3192 was awarded to Northern Construction Service, LLC. at a cost of $8,596,813.80 on November 20, 2018 and is scheduled to be completed by August 15, 2019.  The project consists of the rehabilitation of Four Housatonic Railroad Bridges in the towns of New Milford, Kent and Canaan.
