Rubberized Chip Seal Projects in Colchester, Preston, Griswold, Eastford, Woodstock, Stonington, Windham and Guilford

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that an asphalt rubber chip seal project will begin on August 12, 2019, on Route 149 in Colchester, Route 165 in Preston and Griswold, Route 171 in Eastford and Woodstock, Route 201 in Stonington, Route 203 in Windham, and Route 77 in Guilford.

The project consists of placing an asphalt rubber chip seal, curb to curb, over the existing pavement. In addition, crack sealing and surface patching will be performed to repair the existing roadways prior to placing the chip seal. Sections of Route 203 in Windham and Route 149 in Colchester will be milled and paved prior to chip sealing. Centerline rumble strips will also be installed in portions of all project roads.

DOT Project No. 0172-0483 was awarded to All States Asphalt, Inc. at a cost of $3,042,034.63 on July 1, 2019 and is scheduled to be completed by July 26, 2020.

Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 149 in Colchester from Peck Lane to the end of Route 149, Route 165 in Preston from the intersection of Route 164 to the intersection of Route 201 in Griswold, Route 171 in Eastford from the Union Town Line to the intersection of Route 198 in Woodstock, Route 201 in Stonington from the intersection of Route 184 to the North Stonington Town Line, Route 203 in Windham from the intersection of Route 32 to the intersection of Route 14, and Route 77 in Guilford from Branford Road to Lake Drive #2. Traffic impacts may occur between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Monday – Friday) and 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. (Monday – Friday). Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone.

Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
