Replacement of Bridge 02600 - Route 104 over East Branch of the Mianus River in Stamford

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of work to replace Bridge 02600 carrying Route 104 over the east branch of the Mianus River in the vicinity of the intersection with Riverbank Road and Old Long Ridge Road, in Stamford.

The project consists of replacing the existing deteriorated culvert built in 1933 with a 26-foot clear span precast concrete rigid frame structure.  This will include flared wingwalls and will be constructed in the same alignment and location as the existing culvert.

The majority of the work will be completed within a 3-week (21 day) window with a traffic detour in which Route 104 will be closed and vehicular traffic will be diverted onto town roads. The 3-week detour is currently scheduled to start July 5, and will end July 26, but due to weather or unforeseen condition may occur between July 5, and August 14, 2019. Press releases will be issued before any scheduled closure occurs.

During the scheduled closure and detour, northbound traffic will be detoured to Old Long Ridge Road and southbound traffic will be detoured to Erskine Road to Riverbank Road.

Outside the time frame of the full roadway closure the public can expect single lane closures and alternating one-way traffic on Route 104 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM From March 1, 2019, until the expected contract completion date of September 7, 2019.

DOT Project no. 0135-0329 was awarded to McNamee Construction at a cost of $2,458,950.00 on January 15, 2019 and is scheduled to be completed September 7th, 2019.
