Rehabilitation of Lake Avenue Bridge over the Merritt Parkway in Greenwich

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of construction on the Lake Avenue Bridge over the Merritt Parkway.

The project consists of replacing the structural steel members and the concrete bridge deck.  The decorative panels and ornamental railing will be preserved by cleaning and painting offsite and returned them to their original locations on the new structure.  A two-tube rail system will replace the existing metal beam railing to increase safety and improve aesthetics of the ornamental rail.

A 17-week detour of Lake Avenue is required to perform the work.  The closure will begin after the last school day in June, 2019 in order to have the least impact on school bus transportation.

DOT Project No. 56-309 was awarded to Mohawk Northeast, Inc. of Plantsville, CT on January 18, 2019, at a cost of $4,593,699.65 and is scheduled for completion on November 30, 2019.
