Rehabilitation of Bridge 02151 - Route 15 (Wilbur Cross Parkway) Over Race Brook in Woodbridge

The Connecticut Department of Transportation in announcing that construction activities for the rehabilitation of Bridge 02151 – Route 15 (Wilbur Cross Parkway) over Race Brook between Exit 58 and 59 in Woodbridge – will begin on Monday, April 8, 2019.

The project consists of repairing wingwalls on each side of Bridge 02151 over Race Brook. Barriers will be installed and temporary anchors for the existing three-cable guide rail will be installed.  Trees will be cleared, followed by the construction of the access roads on both the northbound and southbound sides of route 15.  A temporary water bypass system will be installed using sheet piling and bypass piping followed by the repair work of the two wingwalls. New trees and plantings will be installed to restore the area before the conclusion of the project. 

DOT Project No. 0167-0107 was awarded to PJF Construction Corp., of West Hartford, CT on March 7, 2019, at a cost of $952,844.35 and is scheduled for completion on September 28, 2019.

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 15 (Wilbur Cross Parkway), northbound and southbound during nighttime only.  Lanes will be operational during the daytime. Shoulder closures can occur between 9:00am to 3:00pm. The work hours for the project are Sunday through Friday between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., Friday through Saturday between 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m., and Saturday through Sunday between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m.

Most of the work is anticipated to be done away from the shoulders of the road.  However small construction vehicles will be entering from the highway and proper signage will be installed for advance warning.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed and to obey posted signage.
