Rehabilitation of Bridge 00196, I-95 over Route 1 in Branford

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of rehabilitation work on Bridge 00196 carrying  I-95 over U.S. Route 1 in Branford, beginning on April 1, 2019.

The project consists of complete utility relocation in the vicinity of Bridge 00196 to enable the widening of U.S. Route 1.  The project will include the construction of a center pier and the demolition of the existing bridge.  Once the bridge is completely removed, prefabricated bridge units will then be installed.

DOT Project No. 0014-0185 was awarded to O&G Industries at a cost of $11,370,456.82 on January 14, 2019, and is scheduled to be completed October 2, 2020.
