The Connecticut Department of Transportation’s (Department) Office of Engineering is developing plans for the roof replacement of the existing salt sheds located at Route 190 and 346 Main Street South in Bethlehem, 24 Bunker Hill Road in Cornwall and 7 Rockwell Road in Danbury.

It is the Department’s policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concern with us to assist in the project’s development. At this time, it is not anticipated that a public information meeting will be necessary.
The main purpose of this project is to perform maintenance repairs to the aging salt sheds.

The project involves replacing the existing roof shingles and performing other minor improvements. The replacement product will be a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) décor membrane roof.

The present schedule indicates that the design will be completed in September 2019, with construction anticipated to start in spring 2020. This project will be undertaken with 100 percent state funds.
