Nighttime Resurfacing Project on Route 5 - Broad Street - in Meriden

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a nighttime milling and resurfacing project will continue on Route 5 in Meriden through Wednesday, August 21, 2019. 

 

The project consists of milling and resurfacing a 2.24 mile segment of Route 5 in Meriden, including the I-691 Eastbound and Westbound Exit 8 ramps to Route 5 (Broad Street).

 

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 5 between East Main Street #1 and the overlap of

Route 15, as well as the exit and entrance ramps from Route 5 (Broad Street) to I-691 Eastbound and Westbound in Meriden. Motorists are asked to not park their vehicles on Route 5 during the milling and resurfacing project.  Parked vehicles that inhibit the project will be towed.  Motorists can also expect detours when the eastbound and westbound I-691 ramps are milled and paved.  Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (Sunday – Thursday).

 

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
