Nighttime Resurfacing Project along Route 5 (Broad Street) in Meriden

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a nighttime milling and resurfacing project will be performed on Route 5 (Broad Street) in Meriden, beginning Sunday, July 28, 2019. 

 

The project consists of milling and resurfacing a 2.24 mile segment of Route 5 in Meriden, including the I-691 Eastbound and Westbound Exit 8 ramps to Route 5 (Broad Street). This project is scheduled to begin milling on Sunday, July 28, 2019 to Monday, August 12, 2019. The resurfacing segment of this project is anticipated to begin on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 to Monday, September 9, 2019.

 

No work will be performed the day before or after the Labor Day Holiday.

 

LANE CLOSURE INFO

Motorists can expect lane closures on Route 5 between East Main Street #1 and the overlap of

Route 15, as well as the exit and entrance ramps from Route 5 (Broad Street) to I-691 Eastbound and Westbound in Meriden. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. (Sunday – Thursday).

 

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
