Nighttime Repairs to Crash Barrels on I-84 in Waterbury

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing nighttime repairs to crash barrels located at Exits 20 and 21 on I-84 westbound in Waterbury overnight from midnight Wednesday night to 4 a.m. Thursday, January 10-11, 2019.

The project consists of repairs to the so-called “Fitch Barrels” between Exit 21 and Exit 20 and the Exit 20 ramp in Waterbury. The yellow barrels are filled with sand and are designed to lessen the impact if a stray vehicle strikes them at a highway exit.

Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
