I-84 West Exit 54 HOV Lane Claosure (to Downtown Hartford), and the Closure of the Route 2 West Exit 3 Ramp to Darlin Street scheduled to begin on April 23, 2019
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the closure of the HOV lane on I-84 west at Exit 54 and the closure of the Route 2 west Exit 3 ramp to Darlin Street to allow for the rehabilitation of Bridge 2367 in Each Hartford. The closures will begin on April 23, 2019 and will remain in place until October 19, 2019, weather permitting.
The rehabilitation of Bridge 2367 includes superstructure replacement utilizing single spans consisting of steel beams with composite reinforced concrete decks. The bridge substructure will be replaced with GRS-IBS abutments. The superstructure replacement of Bridge 2367 will be completed in two stages. During each stage, two through lanes of traffic from I-84 westbound to downtown Hartford will be maintained.
DOT Project No. 0171-0431, was awarded to The Middlesex Corp. of Littleton, Massachusetts on August 24, 2017 at a cost of $22,067,950.00 and is scheduled to be completed in January, 2020. This project consists of reconstructing four independent bridges, three in East Hartford and one in Willington.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
The HOV lane on I-84 west Exit 54 and the Route 2 west Exit 3 ramp to Darlin Street and will be closed April 23, 2019 until October 19, 2019.
The detour routes for the Route 2 West Exit 3 ramp to Darlin Street closure will be as follows:
- I-84 West Exit 56 to Governor Street
- Left onto Governor Street
- Left onto Thomas Street
- Turn right onto Ash Street
- Continue onto East River Drive
- Turn left onto Darlin Street
Motorists traveling on I-84 West will still be able to use Exit 54 to Downtown Hartford. The exit will maintain two lanes of through traffic.
