Upgrade of Railroad Crossing at the Farrel Birmingham Site in Ansonia

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that work to upgrade a private at-grade railroad crossing carrying the Waterbury Branch of the Metro-North Commuter Railroad at the Farrel Birmingham site in Ansonia, will begin on Friday, June 9, 2017.

To facilitate the work, the private railroad crossing will be closed at the crossing beginning at 10 AM on Friday, June 9, until Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 4 PM.

The project will be performed by Metro-North Commuter Railroad.  Work will be confined to the area of the at-grade crossing.

On Saturday (June 10th) and Sunday (June 11th) there will be no train service between Waterbury and Milford.  Metro-North Commuter Railroad will be providing bus service during these times (please refer to MTA website for more information). Train service is expected to resume on schedule on Monday (June 12th).

There will be an increase in noise levels in the vicinity of the railroad crossing due to the construction.  There also will be construction activities occurring at night starting Friday (June 9th) until Monday morning (June 12th).

Should you have any questions regarding this work, please contact Mr. Manesh Dodia of the Connecticut Department of Transportation at (203) 668-2172 or at Manesh.Dodia@ct.gov.
