Traffic Shift for Rt 35 Bridge Replacement Project in Ridgefield

    

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a traffic shift for stage construction will begin on January 16, 2017, on Route 35 (Danbury Rd.) in Ridgefield. This is Bridge # 02277 over Ridgefield Brook. All work is “weather permitting.”

The project consists of constructing a temporary roadway and bridge to maintain traffic in both directions.  Bridge 02277 will be replaced by removing the existing superstructure and a portion of the abutments and constructing a new span consisting of pile caps and a precast concrete deck. There will also be the installation of storm water collection and drainage systems.

DOT Project No. 0117-0149 was awarded to Baier Construction Company, Inc. at a cost of $2,542,550.40 on July 17, 2015 and is scheduled to be completed December 31, 2017. This project is administered by the Office of Construction – District 4, Thomaston.

A new traffic pattern for stage construction is scheduled to begin January 16, 2017. Route 35 NB traffic will be shifted onto a new temporary bridge. Route 35 SB traffic will be shifted onto the previously used Route 35 NB roadway.

Periodic alternating one way traffic will be in place between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
