South State Street Closure Scheduled to Facilitate Substructure Rehabilitation of I-95 Bridge 0032 in Stamford over Metro North Railroad.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a long term closure of South State Street from Lafayette to North State Street in Stamford is scheduled to occur on or about September 14, 2017.  The closure is necessary to facilitate the replacement of pier 3 of the I-95 overpass over Metro North Railroad.
South State Street will be closed from Lafayette Street to North State Street. Eastbound South State Street traffic will be diverted to Lafayette Street.
The remaining portion of the project consists of the erecting a temporary support tower to jack the beams of I-95 while the existing pier cap is removed and subsequently replaced. The contractor will be given a six month window to complete this work.  Concrete repairs will also be done concurrently with this work utilizing the temporary detour of South State Street on the sections of the existing piers that are above the roadway.

DOT Project no. 0173-0430 was awarded to Blakeslee Arpaia Chapman, Inc. at a cost of $4,067,174.80 on 4/28/14 and is scheduled to be completed early 2018.
