New Haven-Hartford-Springfield (NHHS) Rail Program

Construction Update: Town of Wallingford

May-June 2017

As part of the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield passenger rail upgrade project, the Route 150 (Quinnipiac Street) Bridge over the tracks in Wallingford will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic during two separate closures in May and June. Detours will be required.

The bridge is located between Main Street and South Broad Street.

The first closure is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 22nd at 12:01 a.m. and continue through Thursday, May 25th at 11:59 p.m. The road will re-open on Thursday, May 25th at midnight, and remain open through Tuesday, May 30th at 6:00 p.m. for Memorial Day weekend traffic. The second closure will begin on Tuesday, May 30th at 6:01 p.m. and continue through Sunday, June 11th at 11:59 p.m.

The work will include, but is not limited to, installation and repairs of supporting bridge structures, such as retaining walls and joints, as well as preparation of the rail bed for the new track.

Signs, variable message boards and detour routes alerting the public of the closure will be posted on-site prior to the closure.

Businesses and residents in the surrounding area should expect construction noise throughout this period and temporary lighting to support overnight work in the area.

Please note that this schedule is subject to change and weather conditions.

For construction related questions, please contact Rob Canestra, Project Engineer, AECOM, at (860) 924-8809. For Amtrak service schedule information please visit www.amtrak.com or call 1(800) 872-7245.

This work is part of the overall upgrade of the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield rail line – now branded as the CTrail Hartford Line – scheduled to begin expanded service in 2018.
