Replacement of Bridge 05455,  Route 2 over Hewitt Brook in Preston
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of construction on the project to replace the existing culvert for Hewitt Brook under Route 2 in Preston. The project will begin on or about February 1, 2017.
Replacement of the culvert will be performed from access areas to be constructed on the north (inlet) and south (outlet) sides of Route 2.  The existing 9’-9” X 6’-7” culvert will be replaced with a 3 sided 13’ long X 7’ high structure to increase hydraulic capacity. Construction will involve lane shifts on Route 2.
Department of Transportation project was awarded to Rotha Construction at a cost of $1,471,675.90 on November 23, 2016 and is expected to be completed on or about October 28, 2017.
