Rehabilitation of Stroffolino Bridge, Route 136 Over Norwalk River in Norwalk 

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that construction activities for the rehabilitation of the Stroffolino Bridge (Route 136 over the Norwalk River) will begin on or around April 13, 2017.
The project consists of work that will include storm armoring, waterproofing of the bascule pits by raising the front wall of the bascule piers to a projected high water elevation, repairing electrical conduit, limit switches, environmental upgrades consisting of a new oil water separator, installation of suction stand pipes, installation of new submersible sump pumps and upgrading the navigational lights.
There will be sidewalk and individual roadway lane closures for the repairs of the sidewalk hatches, work inside the bascule pit, the raising of the front walls of the bascule piers and for materials delivery. Occasional, short duration, full roadway closures are expected to take place during the evenings.  
DOT Project No. 0102-0357 was awarded to Mohawk Northeast, Inc. at a cost of $1,627,973.50 on February 2, 2017 and is scheduled to be completed in September 2017.
