New Haven-Hartford-Springfield (NHHS) Rail Program

Construction Update: Town of Wallingford

July 10-25, 2017

Beginning on Monday, July 10th and concluding by Tuesday, July 25th, there will be construction activity at various railroad grade crossings in Wallingford. This will require road closures to pedestrian and vehicular traffic to accommodate track construction and roadway paving. It will occur weekdays during the hours of 7:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. The two-hour time frame from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. will allow construction crews to move equipment to the next grade crossing.

Construction activity will begin at Ward Street, followed by, Pent Highway, Toelles Road, Quinnipiac Street, Hall Avenue, North Plains Highway and Parker Street.

Traffic personnel will be in place throughout the duration of the road closure. Signs, variable message boards and detour routes alerting the public of the closure will be posted on-site prior to the closure.

Businesses and residents in the surrounding area should expect construction noise throughout this period and temporary lighting to support overnight work in the area.

For construction related questions, please contact Rich Angelicola, Resident Engineer, AECOM at (860) 867-6460.

This work is part of the overall upgrade of the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield passenger rail line – now branded as the CTrail Hartford Line – scheduled to begin expanded service in 2018.

Future updates on the status and location of construction activities will be provided on the NHHS Rail Program website at www.nhhsrail.com, Facebook, Twitter and by email. To receive email updates, please register on the NHHS Rail Program website.
