Overnight Closures of Route 34 in Derby
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing overnight closures on Route 34 in Derby.  The overnight closures will occur Friday July 7, 2017, to Sunday July 9, 2017.  If necessary, due to inclement weather on Sunday, the closure period may be extended to include Monday July 10, 2017.  The closures will affect the portion of Route 34 from the intersections with Route 115 to Route 8, from 9 PM to 6 AM.
The closures are necessary to facilitate the rehabilitation and widening of Bridge Number 00947, Route 34, Main Street, over the Naugatuck River.  This weekend’s activities will include final paving of Route 34 at the intersection of Route 115 and Route 34 as well as the eastern approach to the bridge.  The closures are also required to install new overhead permanent signage.
DOT Project No. 0036-0182 was awarded to Baier Construction Co. of Bloomfield, Connecticut at a cost of $8,865,000.50 on March 14, 2014 and is scheduled to be completed in July 2017.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
Route 34 will be closed to the traveling public nightly from 9:00 PM until 6:00 AM.  A detour will be in place utilizing Route 115 (Derby Avenue), Division Street in Ansonia to cross the Naugatuck River, Pershing Drive and Route 8.  Detour signs will be posted and Derby and Ansonia Police will assist with traffic control.  One lane will be provided for emergency vehicles and pedestrians only during the closure periods.
