Operational Lane Improvements on Route 1 in Town of Stratford

   
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of roadway construction on Monday, November 20, 2017, on Route 1 between Frederick Street and Mary Avenue in Stratford.

The project consists of the milling and paving a portion of U.S. Route 1 (Barnum Avenue) in Stratford, along with revisions to the existing lane designations/striping.  The work includes curb relocation, minor widening and an upgrade to the existing traffic signal at the intersection.  In addition, the existing signal at Barnum Avenue and California Street will be upgraded. The purpose and need for this project is to address deficiencies in the existing pavement, increase readability, and enhance safety. 

DOT Project No. 0138-0211/0212 was awarded to Colonna Masonry Concrete & Asphalt Paving LLC. at a cost of $2,034,989.15 on September 1, 2017 and is scheduled to be completed on June 18, 2018. 

LANE CLOSURE INFO:

U.S. Route 1 (Barnum Avenue)

No interference with vehicle traffic Monday through Friday between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM and between 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM, Saturday and Sunday between 10:00 AM and  9:00 PM.

State Route 108 (Nichols Avenue)

No interference with vehicle traffic Monday through Friday between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM and between 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM,  Saturday and Sunday between 10:00AM and 9:00 PM.

All Other Roadways

No interference with vehicle traffic Monday through Friday between 6:00 AM and 9:00 AM and between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM,  Saturday and Sunday between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

The contractor will be allowed to halt traffic for no more than 10 minutes at a time for the purpose of installing steel span poles.
