Installation and Replacement of Metal Bin Retaining Walls on and Along Route 8 Northbound and Southbound in Waterbury / Watertown Starting on Thursday, July 6, 2017
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that traffic shifts associated with the replacements of metal bin retaining walls on and along Route 8 in Waterbury / Watertown is scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 6, 2017.
The project consists of the installation and replacement of three metal bin retaining walls on Route 8 southbound at Exist 36 near Huntingdon Avenue and Colonial Avenue in Waterbury. Another metal bin retaining wall is being replaced on Route 8 Northbound prior to Exit 37 in Watertown.  Motorists should expect lane shifts and lane closures during operations and anticipate impacts on traffic flow through this area.
DOT Project no. 0151-0329 was awarded to Waters Construction Co. Inc. at a cost of $5,915,855.06 on April 25, 2017 and is scheduled to be completed November 28, 2018.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
A majority of the traffic impacts involving construction operations will be completed during night work hours Monday through Friday 6:00pm to 5:00am and Saturday and Sunday from 4:00pm to 11:00am. After concrete barrier is installed, normal working hours Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm will impact Huntingdon Avenue and Colonial Avenue.
Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
