Construction Update: Town of Windsor – Railroad Crossing Work

August – September 2017

East Barber/Meadow Road Railroad Crossings (Daytime Work Hours):  Construction activities will continue through Friday, September 8 at the existing East Barber and Meadow Road railroad crossing in Windsor, with one-way alternating traffic during the hours of 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. The work at these locations will occur weekdays only.

Island Road Railroad Crossing (Daytime/Nighttime Work Hours): Beginning on Friday, September 8th at 6:30 p.m. and continuing through Monday, September 11th at 5:00 p.m. the existing Island Road railroad crossing in Windsor will be closed to through traffic. There will be construction noise throughout this period and temporary lighting to support overnight work in the area.

This work is necessary to accommodate railroad crossing improvements.

Traffic personnel will be in place throughout the duration of construction. Signs, variable message boards and detour routes alerting the public of the detour/closure will be posted on-site.

This work is part of the overall upgrade of the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield rail line – now branded as the CTrail Hartford Line – scheduled to begin expanded service in May 2018.
