Detour to Begin for Safety Improvements on Route 133 in Bridgewater

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a road closure and subsequent detour for Project No. 16-98 on Route 133 will begin March 13, 2017, in the town of Bridgewater.

The project consists of the resurfacing of 5200’ of roadway, 3300’ of which shall be realignment and safety improvements. A new 750’ retaining wall will be built on the west side of Route 133.

DOT Project No. 0016-0098 was awarded to Richards Corporation on August 9, 2016 at a cost of $5,681,777.00 and is scheduled to be completed in August 2017.   This project is administered by the Office of Construction – District 4, Thomaston.

Route 133 will be closed from Route 67 in Town of New Milford to Route 25 in Town of Brookfield starting March 13, 2017 at 9:00 am and last for approximately 4 and a half months, reopening by the end of July 2017. The detour will route traffic along Route 133 north to Route 67 west through the Town of New Milford and follow Route 202/7 south to Route 25 in Brookfield and back to Route 133. The road closure will be from south of Wewaka Brook Road to north of Northrup Street. Northrup Street is closed to all truck traffic except local delivery.
