Construction of Roundabout at the Intersection of Routes 110 and 111 in Monroe

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the construction of a modern traffic roundabout at the intersection of Routes 110 (Shelton Road) and 111 (Monroe Turnpike) in Monroe will begin on or about July 10, 2017.
The project consists of the construction of a modern traffic roundabout to improve safety and congestion at the intersection of Routes 110 and 111 in Monroe, including reconstruction of Route 111 to reduce the grade of the road, construction of a cul-de-sac on Hurd Avenue, and installation of sidewalks connecting this intersection to the Monroe town center. Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday July 10, 2017 and run through October 9, 2018.
DOT Project No. 0084-0108 was awarded to Richards Corporation of Terryville, CT on May 30, 2017, at a cost of $4,099,707.

Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists through the work zone. The regular work schedule for this project is from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (Monday thru Friday).
Segments of Routes 110 and 111 in Monroe will be impacted by this project. Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
