Construction Activities to Begin on Route 1 in Orange on November 20, 2017
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing the start of construction activities on Route 1 in Orange between Lambert Road and Race Brook Road, beginning on Monday, November 20, 2017.
The project consists of widening the existing roadway and adding a turning lane on Boston Post Road (Route 1).  The project will be done in five stages: Stages 1 and 2 are the northbound and southbound lane widening, Stages 3 and 4 are for the construction of a new culvert, and Stage 5 is for the final roadway repaving. All business entrances will be maintained during this project.
DOT Project No. 0106-0122 was awarded to Northern Construction LLC. of Palmer, MA on October 4, 2017, at a cost of $4,797,251.00 and is scheduled for completion in June, 2020.
LANE CLOSURE INFO
During construction, existing lanes will be temporarily merged to a single lane in both directions and one shared-use turning lane. The regular work schedule for this project is from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.
Motorists should be aware that modifications or extensions to this schedule may become necessary due to weather delays or other unforeseen conditions.  Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
