Work on  New Arch Culvert Bridging Cedar Street (Route 175) over CTfastrak in Newington will begin Friday May 30, 2014
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that the installation of the new arch culvert that bridging Cedar Street (Route 175) over CTfastrak in Newington will begin at 6 PM Friday, May 30, 2014, and will be completed by 6 AM Monday, June 2, 2014. 

The contractor is scheduled to remove the existing bridge beams and bridge deck and then install the new arch culvert starting Friday May 30, 2014 at 6 PM.  Work that includes lane closures and traffic shifts will occur during the entire weekend and will be completed by 6 AM Monday, June 2, 2014. 

LANE CLOSURE INFO

One lane in each direction will be closed between Fenn Road and Maple Hill Road.  Motorists can expect delays and short term stoppages, however traffic impacts will be kept to a minimum.  There are no detours anticipated with this closure, but the following alternate routes are suggested:

·         Alternate Route 1 – Willard Avenue, West Hill Road and Fenn Road

·         Alternate Route 2 – Maple Hill Avenue, New Britain Avenue and East Street

Signs will be posted and the Newington Police will be used to assist motorists through this area.  All work will occur weather permitting and will be rescheduled if necessary.
