South Avenue in Bridgeport Reopen to Traffic Friday January 17

      The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that South Avenue between Railroad Avenue east and Railroad Avenue west in Bridgeport will reopen to traffic on Friday, January 17, 2014, three years after being closed for railroad work in the vicinity.

      The railroad project includes improvements of the overhead catenary wire system and replacement of five bridges on the New Haven Rail Line between Bridgeport and Fairfield.

      The project consists of improvements of the overhead Catenary wire system and replacement of five bridges on the New Haven Rail Line between Bridgeport and Fairfield.

      DOT Project no. 15-296/0301-070 was awarded to Ducci Electrical Contractors of Torrington, CT at a cost of $79,234,692.60 on April 2007 and is scheduled to be completed December 2014.

 

LANE CLOSURE INFO

      South Avenue will be closed to traffic intermittentanly as needed to complete all remaining punch list items. Traffic signs and personnel will be utilized to direct traffic through the work zone between the hours of 9:00am to 3:00pm and 9:00pm to 6:00am, on daily basis, weather permitting.
