Route 17A in Portland over Carr Brook Scheduled to Reopen to Traffic by Wednesday, October 8, 2014
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that route 17A over Carr Brook in Portland will be reopened to traffic by October 8, 2014, as the replacement of Bridge 02197 over Carr Brook nears completion.
The project consists of the replacement of bridge 02197 with a 28-foot clear span structure comprised of a precast concrete rigid frame structure founded on piles and cast-in-place concrete footings. Also, the cast-in­ place concrete wingwalls will be founded on piles and cast-in-place concrete footings. The overall width of the proposed structure will be 35'-8", which includes a 32-foot curb-to-curb width to accommodate a 12-foot travel lane and 4-foot shoulder in each direction. Approximately 500 feet of roadway reconstruction will be performed, along with replacing the existing guide railing.
DOT Project No. 0112-0114 was awarded to The Brunalli Construction Company at a cost of $2,175,447.00 on March 5, 2014 and is scheduled to be completed November 19, 2014.
