Rehabilitation of Rt 2 Bridge in Stonington

     

      The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that rehabilitation work on the Route 2 bridge over the Route 78 on ramp in Stonington is beginning July 25, 2014.

      Activities include blast cleaning and painting of the structure, concrete deck repairs, and repair of the substructure. The Project also includes the rebuilding of the sidewalk and milling and paving of the bridge deck.

      DOT Project No. 0137-00155 was awarded to Mohawk Northeast, Inc. of Plantsville CT at a cost of $2,610,717.17 on June 10, 2014 and is scheduled to be completed mid-September 2015. The bridge is No. 03821.

LANE CLOSURE INFO:

      Staged construction will be required to complete the contract work.  Lane shifts will be maintained across the Route 2 bridge over Route 78.  Lane shifts will reduce the existing 4 lanes of traffic to 2 lanes of traffic (one in each direction).

      Traffic signals, concrete barrier curb, traffic drums, and other devices will be used to safely guide motorist through the work zone.
