Rehabilitation of Bridge Number 00947, Route 34 over Naugatuck River and in Derby
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that construction activity for the rehabilitation of Bridge Number 00947, Route 34, Main Street, over the Naugatuck River in the town of Derby is scheduled for the mid-month of May 2014. 

The contractor is currently installing signage and making adjustments to current traffic signals to accommodate the impending construction.

The project consists of the rehabilitation of the full length of Bridge No. 00947 including replacement of the concrete deck, replacement of bridge bearings, sidewalk and lighting. New fascia girders for a new sidewalk will also be installed.  Bituminous pavement will be installed after deck repairs.

DOT Project No. 0036-0182 was awarded to Baier Construction Co., at a cost of $8,865,000.50 on 03/14/14 and is scheduled to be completed in November 2016.

LANE CLOSURE INFO- This is updated information

Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in each direction between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m.

One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The contractor will be allowed to detour traffic during six occasions on week-nights between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.  The dates of the detour will be provided two weeks in advance of closure.

Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving in this vicinity.
