Public Information Meeting Concerning Improvements to Hartford Union Station
The Connecticut Department of Transportation (Department) will conduct a Public Information Meeting concerning Hartford Union Station. The meeting will be on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. in the Great Hall of Hartford Union Station, One Union Place in Hartford.

As a part of the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield (NHHS) Rail Program, improvements will be made to Hartford Union Station in its present location.      

The project improvements include construction of high-level passenger boarding platform and a second set of egress stairs.  Additional enhancements will include a passenger information display system, security cameras and ticket vending machines.

Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2015 and be completed in late 2016. The approximate cost of the project is $2,200,000 and is funded by Federal Rail Administration grant funds and state funds.

The public information meeting is being held to afford an opportunity for the public to participate and comment in person on the proposed project.  

Plans will be available for public review. Department personnel will be available during the meeting to discuss this project.  More detailed information is available at the Department’s Office of Engineering, 2800 Berlin Turnpike, Newington, CT during office hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays.  Anyone wishing to review the plans may contact the Project Engineer, Mr. Eric Bergeron, at (860) 594-3152 or by e-mail at Eric.Bergeron@ct.gov. Plans will also be available for review in the City Engineers Office of Hartford.

The meeting facility is ADA accessible. Language assistance may be requested by contacting the Department of Transportation’s Office of Communications (Voice only) at (860) 594-3062 at least five working days prior to the meeting. Language assistance is provided at no cost to the public.
