Notice of Public Information Meeting – Railroad Grade Crossing Improvements in Wallingford
As a part of the New Haven-Hartford-Springfield (NHHS) Rail Program, improvements will be made to railroad grade crossings.  The Connecticut Department of Transportation (Department) will conduct a public information meeting to present these improvements. The meeting will be held on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Wallingford Public Library,  200 North Main Street, Wallingford.
Improvements to seven (7) at-grade rail crossings in Wallingford include installation of new grade crossing protection equipment and grade crossing panels as well as approach roadway and traffic signal improvements (as required) to the grade crossings located on Toelles Road, Ward Street, Quinnipiac Street, Hall Avenue, Parker Street, North Plains Road and Pent Highway.  Intermittent road closures and detours will be required to perform the work.
Construction is scheduled to begin in late 2014 and be completed in late 2016.  The approximate cost of the work is $2,000,000 and is funded by Federal Rail Administration grant funds and the State of Connecticut.
Plans will be available for public review.  Department personnel will be available during the meeting to discuss this project.  More detailed information is available at the Department’s Office of Engineering, 2800 Berlin Turnpike, Newington, CT during office hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays.  Anyone wishing to review the plans may contact Mr. Eric Bergeron, Project Engineer, at (860) 594-3152.  Plans will also be available for review in the Town Engineer’s office in Wallingford.
All persons interested in this project are welcome to attend this meeting and discuss the project with Department personnel.
