Nighttime Lane Closures for Replacement of Noise Barriers on Route 15 in East Hartford

      The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that nighttime lane closures will begin Monday, February 3, 2014, for the replacement of noise barrier walls on Route 15 in East Hartford.  Long-term shoulder closures with temporary precast concrete barrier curb remain in effect.

      The nighttime lane closures are in addition to long term shoulder closures currently iin place using temporary precast concrete barrier curb between the Charter Oak Bridge and I-84.

      The project consists of the removal and replacement of 3,158 feet of existing noise barrier walls at three locations on Route 15 between the Charter Oak Bridge and Interstate 84.  In addition, a portion of two of the noise barrier walls that will be installed on the bridge over Silver Lane (Rt. 15 Exit 91 area) will be a lightweight transparent type. 

      DOT Project No. 0042-0311, was awarded to Rotha Contracting Company, Inc. of Avon, CT on January 14, 2013 at a cost of $3,679,274.00 and is scheduled to be completed in July 2014.

      Route 15 – 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday – Friday, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday

Silver Lane (Rt. 15 Exit 91 area) - 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

      Long-term shoulder closures remain in effect on Route 15 (North and South) with temporary precast concrete barrier curb between the Charter Oak Bridge and I-84.
